First timer? Here’s some helpful tips.

If you’d like to try Kyokushin Karate, well done: A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. We’d like to make that first step as easy as possible so here’s four quick tips to make it a little easier:

  1. Don’t worry. Be happy.
We know it’s your first time and we’ll do everything we can to help you understand what is going on and how it all works. You’ll probably even get some one-on-one instruction to help get you up to speed. Don’t be hard on yourself – we won’t be.
  2. Bring some loose fitting sports clothes: track-pants and a T-shirt will be just fine. We can sort you out with a gi (a karate training uniform) when you commit to training on a more permanent basis.
  3. Bring a bottle of water. You won’t need anything else on your first time.
  4. Tell the Sensei or lead instructor if you have any injuries that we need to manage.
